Andy Serkis, Rupert Wyatt And Travis Knight Potential Directors For Venom 2?

Venom (2018)

It may have not have won over all the critics, Venom did win the fans praise. It may have not have been game changer but it was a flawed film that lived up to its comic book tropes. Box Office return of under $900 million worldwide (on a $100 million budget) make Sony Pictures choice easier , a Venom 2 is on the cards. But who will be directing the anticipated sequel?

According to Zombieland: Double Tap.

No deal has been made at this stage, despite some websites stating Serkis is the favourite to take the coveted job. Sony will be hoping for a deal to be sorted quickly with November slated to start production.  It’s also vital the studio moves fast to capitalises on that Box Office success. Can we assume the ‘Untitled Sony/Marvel Sequel set for an 2nd October 2020, is Venom 2?

When it comes to motion caption, Andy Serkis is an pioneer. From his Lord Of The Rings days to his most recent film Mowgli he knows his way around VFX studio. But is he really the perfect choice to direct this? If anything Travis Knight may just be the better choice. He made a spin-off of one of the most divisive franchises (Transformers) into an enjoyable, entertaining likeable film. He was an unknown quantity, untested and critics liked the film and he could surprise the critics once again.

Tom Hardy is returning as our symbiotic anti-hero Eddie Brock. Michelle Williams has signed on too for the second film. So will Woody Harrelson who made a last minute cameo in Venom as villain Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage.

Next film in the Spider-Man world spin-off will be Jared Leto in Morbius, which is set for a Summer 2020 release.
