Beware Of The Weeping Woman In The Curse of La Llorona First Trailer

The Curse of La Llorona (2019)

To some, she’s just a folktale, but next April The Weeping Woman is coming and she wants your children! Warner Bros Pictures has released the first (UK) Trailer for The Curse of La Llorona.

Warner Bros has been building quite a catalogue of jump scare horror, mostly built by James Wan. Ironically the director behind Insidious, The Conjuring franchises is producing this one with Michael Chaves directing. Chaves will be directing The Conjuring 3 and the pair work on a horror based around a Mexican folktale.

Set in the 1970s, the film is based on the tale of the legend of La Llorona. A woman who killed her own kids and finds herself stuck in purgatory. In Los Angeles, we follow social worker Anna (Linda Cardellini) who is warned about the ‘Weeping Woman’and her kids become prey for that emotional ghost.

The trailer plays like a James Wan film, which will attract people to the films. It’s a little unsettling, creepy and amazingly plays no part of The Conjuring franchise though could easily fit in.

La Llorona. The Weeping Woman. A horrifying apparition, caught between Heaven and Hell, trapped in a terrible fate sealed by her own hand. The mere mention of her name has struck terror around the world for generations. In life, she drowned her children in a jealous rage, throwing herself in the churning river after them as she wept in pain.

Now her tears are eternal. They are lethal, and those who hear her death call in the night are doomed. La Llorona creeps in the shadows and preys on the children, desperate to replace her own. As the centuries have ed, her desire has grown more voracious…and her methods more terrifying.

To coincide with the release of the film Warner Brothers UK now has new home for horror on Facebook, check it out here.

The horror stars Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez, Sean Patrick Thomas, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen and Roman Christou.

The Curse of La Llorona will be released in the UK and Ireland in April 2019.
