HYSTERIA a comedy set in Victorian England about the invention of the first ‘vibrator’ which off course then for ‘medical purposes’ but a 100 plus years on more mass produced, plastic and very rampant. The film stars Hugh Dancy as Doctor Mortimer Granville (Hugh Dancy) who created the world’s first vibrator to cure women of their ‘Hysteria’  all done in the best possibly taste in the name of science!

London, 1880. Mortimer Granville, a dedicated and forward-thinking young doctor, is struggling to establish his career. While Granville preaches sanitation and germ theory, the old guard of doctors clinging to leeches and hacksaws, scoff at his upstart ideas, and show him the door. Granville’s fortunes change when he arrives for an interview at the well-appointed private offices of Dr. Dalrymple, London’s leading specialist in women’s medicine.

Decent cast on offer here Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett, Ashley Jensen, Sheridan Smith, Felicity Jones, Gemma Jones , Anna Chancellor. it might not look like a cast that will get you into the cinema to watch, however the comedy looks likely to be the films main selling point naughty but typically British, Hysteria doesn’t have a UK release date but the film will arrive in USA May 18th.
