Cannes Buzzfest Foxcatcher First Teaser Trailer Wrestles Online

Channing Tatum and Steve Carell in Foxcatcher

Here at The People’s Movies we’re a little frustrated at our lack of coverage of this year’s Cannes Film Festival however our eyes are still opened to what’s happening and Foxcatcher starring Channing Tatum has caught our attention. Matter of fact it’s caught the attention of many creating a nice positive buzz and this afternoon we get our first glimpse at the film’s teaser trailer.

Based on Bennett Miller‘s true life story of murderer John Du Pont (Channing Tatum) and Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo). Both champions the brothers get invited to a Wrestling School funded by Du Pont however things take a tragic turn when Dave is murdered by John Du Pont leaving Mark to seek justice for his brother.

Originally the film was planned for a release last December (Stateside) as it was seen as one of the strong contenders for this years awards season with it’s November U.S release date it should be in the running this time. From the fantastic Cannes buzz it’s Carrell’s performance as the Schizophrenic Du Pont that’s capturing the most attention, showcasing a side of the actor we don’t see much off, a serious side . Will he be challenging for best actor? Maybe a little too premature at this stage but we would be shocked if he doesn’t make the nominations list at least. It looks like a performance that reminds of Robin Williams performance in One Hour Photo but darker but proving the acting talent Steve Carell is.

No word on a Foxcatcher UK release date just yet but the U.S date is 14th November . The film also stars Anthony Michael Hall, Sienna Miller and Vanessa Redgrave.
