Chris Pratt’s Cowboy Ninja Viking Gets A 2019 Release Date

Cowboy Ninja Viking

When you have a comic book or movie title called Cowboy Ninja Viking, it’s certainly going to grab your attention. Star Lord himself Chris Pratt was certainly attracted to one of the craziest titled movie projects for a very long time. Now it seems his wish to see it on the big screen is finally coming to a cinema near you as Universal Pictures gives the project a release date.

Just when it was ready to sink deeper into development hell Universal get the Guardians Of The Galaxy/ Jurassic World star very excited. The studio has confirmed the movie get a 28th June 2019 release date, right next to Transformers 7. After the underwhelming box office return from The Last Knight that challenge may not worry Universal. However, there is even bigger sequel going to be released before and after Cowboy Ninja Viking will be released. Spider-Man sequel and the long awaited Toy Story 4 both movies that could potentially hurt the movie at box office.

So who and what is  Cowboy Ninja Viking? First published by Image Comics created by writer A. J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo. Duncan is the result of a secret government program to create soldiers for the war on terror. This experimental regimen conscripts people suffering from multiple personality disorder and turns them into “triplets,” highly lethal operatives possessing three distinct personalities drawing from warrior/tough guy archetypes. Duncan serves as the reader’s entry point into a complex web of espionage and violence that grows more intriguing as we are let in on exactly what’s up with Duncan, the people who want to drag him back into the fold, and the rest of the triplets that remain at large.

This project has been around for a very long time, starting first back in 2010 at Disney Pictures based on a script by Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. That was a tad too risky for the studio and it moved to its current studio Universal Pictures with Pratt himself ing the project 3 years ago.

There is no director signed up yet to this project but when Chris Pratt signed up they did speak to John Wick duo David Leitch and Chad Stahelski the latter now moving to Deadpool 2. The movie might be 2 years away so expect news soon on who will direct. No UK release date has been confirmed yet.
