If your hiding dark secret they will eventually be known. In the UK Trailer for Magpie released by Signature Entertainment, Daisy Ridley has ‘dark secrets’. The British Neo-Noir thriller reveals the price we pay when the line between love and obsession blurs.

It has been onwards and upwards since the British actor has steeped away from The Star Wars franchise. Mostly smaller indie films, sometimes those films are the best ones and maybe this film may have not happened.

Magpie is based on an idea by Ridley which also stars Matilda Lutz. Sam Yates directs this one, which is his directorial feature debut, after directing a number of shorts and National Theatre live productions.

In this one Anette (Ridley) seems to be a woman on a verge of a nervous breakdown. Her and Ben’s (Latif) daughter is about to star in a film with a glamourous actor Alicia (Lutz). Ben is obsessed with Alicia and the pair start an affair leaving Anette at home with the baby pushing her to the limits and
deadly consequences.

This looks very dark, it’s opening Pigeon Shrine FrightFest Halloween event. Looks a slowburner that might go into some unexpected place…

When Ben and Anette’s daughter is cast in a film alongside glamorous movie star, Alicia, Ben is quickly drawn into Alicia’s world. As he becomes more intoxicated with Alicia and their affair intensifies, Anette is left at home with the baby, pushed to her emotional limits and psychologically on the brink, which leads to deadly consequences.

Starring Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Shazad Latif (What’s Love Got to Do With It?), Matilda Lutz (Revenge), Hiba Ahmed and Alistair Petrie (Sex Education), Magpie is written by Tom Bateman based on an idea he developed with Daisy Ridley and is directed by Sam Yates.

The film also stars Pippa Bennett-Warner, Hiba Ahmed, Cherrelle Skeete, and Alistair Petrie. Magpie is available on UK and Ireland digital platforms from 11th November.
