Denzil Washington Is Disillusioned In Roman J. Israel, Esq Trailer

All rise. This December Denzil Washington will play idealistic lawyer Roman J. Israel, Esq. Disillusioned who finds himself in an existential crisis after losing his job. Today Sony Pictures has released the UK trailer as the lawyer ditches the morals to become a crusader for justice. A trailer that hints that this movie might just be more than a courtroom drama and a lawyer taking things to the extreme to succeed…

The movie marks the follow up for Dan Gilroy whose directorial feature debut Nightcrawler was an overall success, could lightning strike twice? It certainly looks like a movie that will be challenging for the nominations at the Oscars. Reviews from Toronto Film Festival were mixed but still predominantly positive with all agreeing Washington’s performance is very commanding. Could he strike it rich this time after missing out to Casey Affleck at this year’s Oscars? Whatever happens, it won’t be an easy task for the actor either way.

Roman J. Israel, Esq. is a dramatic thriller set in the underbelly of the overburdened Los Angeles criminal court system. Denzel Washington stars as a driven, idealistic defence attorney whose life is upended when a turbulent series of events challenge the activism that has defined his career. Colin Farrell co-stars as the ambitious, moneyed lawyer who recruits Roman to his firm.

Roman J. Israel, Esq. will arrive in the UK and Irish cinemas from 1st December (3rd November in the USA). The movie also stars Carmen Ejogo.
