First Look At Anya Taylor-Joy In The Queen’s Gambit

Are you a pawn or a queen? This is the question we’ll be asking Anya Taylor-Joy in Netflix‘s limited series The Queen’s Gambit.The streaming giants today launched a first look at the series, releasing a number of new images and a very short announcement Teaser Trailer.
Anya Taylor-Joy buy young actress since her breakthrough film The VVitch and also stars in the long delayed The New Mutants about to be finally released. For this one she exchanges the big screen for the streaming world, as a young outcast who rises through the ranks of Chess.
This is a coming of age story of young girl who discovers her talent to master Chess, whilst developing an addiction for drugs, When she grows she quickly becomes plagued by her demons. Whilst taking on the establishment of a world dominated by males.
Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, the Netflix limited series drama THE QUEEN’S GAMBIT is a coming-of-age story that explores the true cost of genius. Abandoned and entrusted to a Kentucky orphanage in the late 1950s, a young Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) discovers an astonishing talent for chess while developing an addiction to tranquilizers provided by the state as a sedative for the children. Haunted by her personal demons and fueled by a cocktail of narcotics and obsession, Beth transforms into an impressively skilled and glamorous outcast while determined to conquer the traditional boundaries established in the male-dominated world of competitive chess. The series is directed and co-written by two-time Academy Award nominee Scott Frank and executive produced by Frank, William Horberg and Allan Scott, who also co-created the series.
The series co-stars Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Moses Ingram, Harry Melling and Bill Camp. The series is directed by Scott Frank who directed Godless for Netflix and The Walk Among The Tombstones.
The Queen’s Gambit will launch on Netflix from 23rd October.
