‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel: Title and Release Date Announced

As the next Godzilla x Kong film heads into production, Legendary have announced its official title and release date.
Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, directed by Grant Sputore (I Am Mother), will hit screens in 2027. Previously, the films have been directed by Adam Wingard, Gareth Edwards, Jordan Vogt-Roberts and Michael Dougherty.
In this instalment, several new human characters will forces with the titular titans as they face off against a new world-ending threat. The cast includes Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us), Jack O’Connell (Sinners), Delroy Lindo (Sinners) and Dan Stevens, reprising his role as Trapper Beasley.
Beginning with 2014’s Godzilla (Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elzabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston) Legendary’s Monsterverse includes Kong: Skull Island (Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and Brie Larson starred) and Godzilla: King of Monsters (which starred Millie Bobbie Brown, Vera Farmiga and Kyle Chandler).
The latest instalment, last year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which featured Stevens, Rebecca Hall and Bryan Tyree Henry, became the highest-grossing in the franchise. The story also expanded with the animated spin-off, Skull Island, and the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which starred Kurt and Wyatt Russell.
Released by Warner Bros, the films have grossed over $2.5 billion internationally, with the last film grossing over $571million, a series high.
The new film is set for a March 26, 2027, release.
