Halle Bailey Is Ariel In The Little Mermaid Live Action Version

If you’re a little frustrated or even enjoying Disney’s venture through there back catalogue you might like this news. Disney have announced they have chosen their Ariel for The Little Mermaid.
Halle Bailey has been cast as Ariel in Disney’s live-action reimagining of The Little Mermaid. The film is directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. The film will feature beloved songs from the animated classic by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as new songs by

Menken (music) and Miranda (lyrics).
Ariel is one of Disney’s most iconic princesses who had ‘fun Under The Sea’. It’s hard to believe it’s thirty years since that fun.
Chloe Grace Moretz was originally lined up to play Ariel. However in 2016 the young actress took some time out from acting. Bailey, of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle has officially taken over. An exciting new direction for Disney now with a young black actress in the lead role instead of the usual white usually European woman.
“After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role,” says Marshall.
After the critical success of Mary Poppins Returns, Disney will be hoping Rob Marshall can deliver. This time not a sequel a re imagining of a classic animation.
There is gossip that Melissa McCarthy, Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay are in negotiations to also star. Additional announcements regarding The Little Mermaid are expected in the coming weeks.
Production is anticipated to begin in early 2020.
