Hatching UK Trailer Will Have You Coming Out Of Your Shell

Are you ready to be yourself? In September you’ll come out your shell with Hatching and today we get a look at the film’s UK Trailer.

Hanna Bergholm‘s feature debut has been creating a massive buzz since it’s world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. Continuing the fantastic female directed horrors such as Relic, Saint Maud, The Babadook, Raw. All films also female led, Bergholm‘s Finnish horror looking like another chilling entry.

Siiri Solalinna is our 12 year old Tinja, desperate to please her mother who wants to showcase the ‘perfect family’. After finding an strange egg from a wounded bird, she takes it home. She looks after it until it hatches with the creature becoming her friend and living nightmare.

This is a horror and much as it’s a dark fable. Throw in some classic Hitchcockian moments and from other horror tropes. Hatching certainly looks creepy and disturbing. We can’t wait!

Our writer Shane A.Bassett got a chance to watch the film at Sundance London. Giving the film 4 stars describing it as a “Challenging movie has brilliant rewards for horror aficionados“.

In HATCHING, 12-year-old gymnast, Tinja (Siiri Solalinna), is desperate to please her image obsessed mother, whose popular blog ‘Lovely Everyday Life’ presents their family’s idyllic existence as manicured suburban perfection. One day, after finding a wounded bird in the woods, Tinja brings its strange egg home, nestles it in her bed, and nurtures it until it hatches.

The creature that emerges becomes her closest friend and a living nightmare, plunging Tinja beneath the impeccable veneer into a twisted reality that her mother refuses to see.

HATCHING is a fascinating portrait of the nature of maternal instinct, as Tinja battles to come to with the genuine emotional bond with her grotesque and bloodthirsty new found family while contending with the fraying connection to her own demanding mother.

Hatching also stars Sophia Heikkilä, Saija Lentonen, and Jani Volanen. Picturehouse Entertainment will release the film in UK and Irish cinemas from 16th September.
