Is Natalie Portman ‘Foolish’ In Lady In The Lake Trailer?

What’s going on with Natalie Portman in Apple TV‘s noir mystery series Lady In The Lake? The first trailer has arrived and teases many things, but one thing she’s not is foolish!

We’re only 4 weeks away and it’s time to enjoy the trailer of the series based on Laura Lippman‘s book. This has nothing to do with the classic noir from 1946 starring Robert Montgomery, however as we can see this 7 episode limited series tip toes into noir.

Next to Portman, Lady In The Lake also stars Moses Ingram. We find ourselves in 1966, Baltimore Maddie (Portman), a housewife reinventing her life as a investigative journalist. Who becomes obsessed with the death of young black mother Cleo (Ingram), still unsolved by the police.

When the disappearance of a young girl grips the city of Baltimore on Thanksgiving 1966, the lives of two women converge on a fatal collision course. Maddie Schwartz (Portman), a Jewish housewife seeking to shed a secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, and Cleo Sherwood (Ingram), a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family. Their disparate lives seem parallel at first, but when Maddie becomes fixated on Cleo’s mystifying death, a chasm opens that puts everyone around them in danger. From visionary director Alma Har’el, “Lady in the Lake” emerges as a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected tale of the price women pay for their dreams.

The series also stars Y’lan Noel, Brett Gelman, Byron Bowers, Noah Jupe, Josiah Cross, Mikey Madison and Pruitt Taylor Vince. Lady In The Lake will premiere on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on 19th July.
