LIFF 2012: ‘Break His Heart’ In New Great Expectations Clip

Jealousy prevails at the The People’s Movies & Cinehouse UK HQ with the London Film Festival only 2 days away. Its jealousy as in the location of the sites main base been 500 miles away north of london however we have a great bunch of reviewers who will deliver a good coverage of the festival and keeping with the festival theme we have a new clip from Great Expectations. Mike Newell‘s adaptation of the classic Charles Dicken’s novel will make its UK premier on the 21st October closing the festival and in a clip entitled ‘Break His Heart’ we meet Helena Boham Carter as Miss Havisham who encourages young Estella to Break Young Pip’s heart in a game of cards. The clip maybe brief but highlights the class differences the film is set in that a young girl can address Young Pip as ‘boy’ because he is an commoner, sadly hundreds of years later some things haven’t changed much.
Great Expectations will close 56th BFI London Film Festival on October 21st before it openes in UK&Ireland on November 30th. The film stars Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Holliday Grainger Robbie Coltrane, Jason Flemyng, Sally Hawkins, Tamzin Outhwaite, David Walliams with Elizabeth Karlsen, Stephen Woolley (Made in Dagenham, How to Lose Friends and Alienate People, The Crying Game), the film has been adapted for the screen by David Nicholls.
