Music is Riz Ahmed’s World In Sound Of Metal Trailer

Amazon Studios has released the First Trailer for Riz Ahmed‘s Sound Of Metal. In this one Music Is Riz’s world, the the silence revealed a whole new one.

We’ve been hearing great things about Darius Marder‘s film since it’s world premiere at 2019 Toronto Film Festival. Especially Ahmed’s performance as a drummer of a punk metal band who begins to experience hearing loss. After meeting a specialist as his condition gets worse sending him on a downward spiral. Can he adapt or must he give up his dream?

Loss of hearing is emotional shock to anyone, an unexpected shock. Nowadays technology and people with hearing loss are fine examples life can go with a few adjustments. Personally I haven’t seen this film but Riz Ahmed looks like he’s finally about to get recognition in a lead role…

During a series of adrenaline-fueled one-night gigs, itinerant punk-metal drummer Ruben (Riz Ahmed) begins to experience intermittent hearing loss. When a specialist tells him his condition will rapidly worsen, he thinks his music career — and with it his life — is over. His bandmate and girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke) checks the recovering heroin addict into a secluded sober house for the deaf in hopes it will prevent a relapse and help him learn to adapt to his new situation. But after being welcomed into a community that accepts him just as he is, Ruben has to choose between his equilibrium and the drive to reclaim the life he once knew. Utilizing startling, innovative sound design techniques, director Darius Marder takes audiences inside Ruben’s experience to vividly recreate his journey into a rarely examined world.

The film also includes Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff, Mathieu Amalric, Chris Perfetti, William Xifaras, Shaheem Sanchez, Chelsea Lee, and Jeremy Stone.

There is no word the UK release of Sound Of Metal . The film will arrive in select theatres November 20, and on Prime Video December 4 in the U.S.
