New James Bond producers confirmed as Amy Pascal and David Heyman

Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli‘s recent departure from the James Bond series left fans shaken and stirred. The long-time 007 gatekeepers will be replaced by producer and former Sony Pictures executive Amy Pascal, alongside Harry Potter producer David Heyman, confirms The Hollywood Reporter.
Pascal and Heyman are set to produce the first Bond film since No Time To Die (2021), which saw 007 actor Daniel Craig bow out in a blaze of glory. The movie will be produced under the auspices of Amazon MGM Studios with whom Wilson and Broccoli are said to have clashed.
Pascal and Heyman take charge
Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Film Courtenay Valenti released the following statement: “We are approaching every creative decision with James Bond, which Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have so masterfully steered, with the greatest sense of responsibility.
“Part of an elite group of producers who have developed and managed massive film franchises to box office success and critical acclaim, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.”
Valenti added: “We are honoured to be working with [Pascal and Heyman] on James Bond’s next chapter and are excited to deliver to global audiences storytelling that upholds the impeccable legacy of this beloved character.”
Pascal and Heyman released their own statement: “James Bond is one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema. We are humbled to follow in the footsteps of Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson who made so many extraordinary films and honoured and excited to keep the spirit of Bond very much alive as he embarks on his next adventure.”
The end of an era for Bond
Wilson’s association with the Bond series stretches back decades. He ed Eon productions in 1972, eventually becoming the assistant to his stepfather, the legendary Bond franchise creator Albert R ‘Cubby’ Broccoli who initiated the series along with Harry Saltzman.
Wilson served as an executive producer on 1979’s Moonraker, starring Roger Moore. He subsequently shared a screenplay credit with Richard Maibaum on all of the Bond films released in the 1980s. Wilson was first credited as co-producer alongside Cubby Broccoli on 1985’s A View to a Kill, Roger Moore‘s final Bond film.
Wilson first collaborated with Barbara Broccoli, Cubby Broccoli‘s daughter, on 1995’s GoldenEye, starring Pierce Brosnan. They subsequently worked together on all of the Brosnan movies and the Daniel Craig reboots that started with Casino Royale in 2006.
Their departure concludes nearly 50 years’ worth of Bond heritage. It’s one of the longest-running and most successful franchises in the history of cinema and one wonders what lies ahead.
Heyman is currently working on HBO‘s Harry Potter reboot while Pascal has multiple Spider-Man movies in the works including Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
