‘Off To War’ In New Clips From Tolkien

Last night in London saw the European Premiere of Tolkien, the film set around the life of Lord Of The Rings author, J.R.R Tolkien. The film is set during the renowned writers years and to celebrate the film’s release, Fox Searchlight Pictures has released two new clips.

Nicholas Hoult stars as our titular hero and in the first clip ‘Off To War’, we see him with friends at a tea dance. preparing to head to war. In the second Clip ‘Cellar Door‘ Edith (Lilly Collins) is trying to coax a story out of her husband. He refuses as she starts to tell her version of the story…

TOLKIEN explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-earth novels.

Directed by Dome Karukoski from a script by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, the film also stars Lily Collins, Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris and Derek Jacobi.

Tolkien will arrive in the UK and Irish Cinemas from 3rd May( 10th May in the USA).
