MAX has unveiled the first teaser trailer for the second season of their hit DC television series Peacemaker, which you can watch below.

John Cena returns as Peacemaker in new trailer

Acting as both a new season and a soft reboot now that James Gunn and producer Peter Safran are the new co-CEOs of DC Studios, the previous iteration of the DC Universe is no more. Mostly. Of course, one thing remains constant, though: John Cena still stars as the anti-hero who believes in peace at any cost, regardless of who gets in his way.

The series stars Cena as Peacemaker, as well as Danielle Brooks as Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Harcourt, Steve Agee as Economos, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, with some brief appearances by Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, who also remains in her role despite the reboot and changes. Frank Grillo plays Rick Flag Sr., Tim Meadows portrays Langston Fleury, and Brey Noelle will be Batman villain White Rabbit.

Official synopsis:

The new season follows Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.

Gunn helms three episodes with the others dividing up between Greg Mottola (Superbad), Peter Sollett (Ordinary Joe), and Alethea Jones (Mrs. Davis) had been recruited to direct a few of the season’s episodes. A new poster for season two also confirms that Peacemaker’s ridiculous pet eagle, Eagly, will still play a central role in the series.
