Release Date Set For Sky’s The Idol Starring The Weeknd Watch New Trailer

The Idol coming to SKY Atlantic in June

Hello Angels Sky has released a new UK Trailer for their SKY Atlantic bound series The Idol.

The series is created by Sam Levinson who also gave us Euphoria, plus films Malcolm & Marie. Starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Tesfaye better known as The Weeknd in the lead roles. The series will be exclusively shown on SKY (HBO in USA)this June with the show first premiering at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.

The Idol has come with a lot of controversary with changes in creative direction, with Levinson reshooting the series after original director Amy Seimetz leaving despite a near complete show in the can. However many delays have prevented the show premiering and now the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight we hope to get something provocative and exciting.

Set in the backdrop of the music industry when a self help guru (The Weeknd) enters the life of a rising pop idol (Depp). The relationship gets a little complicated, when it appears the guru happens to be a leader of a cult.

If you think music has become over sexualised, The Idol might be the show for you!

After a nervous breakdown derailed Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) last tour, she’s determined to claim her rightful status as the greatest and sexiest pop star in America. Her ions are reignited by Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a nightclub impresario with a sordid past. Will her romantic awakening take her to glorious new heights or the deepest and darkest depths of her soul?

The cast for this one also includes Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, and Hank Azaria.

The Idol, will air exclusively on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW in June, possibly 4th June.
