Sam Taylor-Johnson Pulls Out Of Fifty Shades Of Grey Sequels
It was on the cards on the eve of the first film and with announcement of the sequels but now it’s official Sam Taylor-Johnson will not direct Fifty Shades Of Grey sequels.
The Wrap are reporting the British director and her regular script writer Kelly Marcel is expected not to return either despite making $560 million ($380 m) worldwide box office. Taylor-Johnson did say she was ‘hugely grateful’ for a chance to direct E.L James BDSM bestseller. However as the production of the film was not easy with constant stories of the director clashing with the author so it makes you wonder if she may have been pushed or walked? James also demanded she wanted to pen the script which mad Marcel’s life on the film not easy, so it’s no surprise she will now be departing.

Directing Fifty Shades of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie. While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three.
As for the lead two actors Jamie Dorman and Dakota Johnson are expected to return as they are contractually obligated to reprise their roles. The talk will be on who will direct? Should it be a female or male director or simply the best director who she or he maybe? Fans of the bestselling books will be hoping whoever it will be will be hoping Fifty Shades of Darker and Fifty Shades of Freed the story will be more closer to the books.
If you where a fan of the books but felt let down by Fifty Shades Of Grey film an ‘Unseen Edition’ is set to be released on 22nd May.
