Release Date Set For Scary Movie Reboot

Scary Movie Sequel

The Wayans, one of the most popular families in comedy, have reunited for the first time in 18 years to restart Scary Movie, one of the most popular and commercially successful horror parody franchises. Even better news for fans: the release date for the film has been set.

The original Scary Movie opened at $42.5 million at the box office. The film’s resounding success spawned four sequels, grossed almost $900 million, and contributed to making the Wayans brothers household names. Over a decade after the release of Scary MoVie, a franchise reboot has been confirmed with a release date of June 12, 2026.

The film was announced in April 2024, with the Wayans brothers reuniting to develop. Although the release date is confirmed, not much else is clear about what fans can expect. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood are linked to the franchise, such as Anna Farris, Charlie Sheen, and Kevin Hart, but no cast are currently confirmed.

Producer Neal H. Moritz, known for his work on the Fast & Furious franchise, is attached to the project, as are Miramax and Paramount Pictures. Perhaps the most exciting update regarding Scary Movie 6 is the involvement of the Wayans, who have been absent from the franchise since the release of Scary Movie 2 in 2001.

As for what direction they will take the next installment, fans will eagerly wait until next year.
