Sean Penn Is Complicated In UK Trailer For Flag Day

Vertigo Releasing have just released the UK Trailer for Sean Penn’s Flag Day and he’s one complicated father. But can he reconcile for being one of the most criminals with his daughter?

When it comes to the ghosts of our pasts, it’s probably better coming clean and be honest to tell the ones you love the truth. That person just happens to Penn’s real life daughter, Dylan Penn who takes centre stage in her dad’s directed drama.

This one is based on a true story and is told the daughter’s perspective, Jennifer Vogel. Her world falls apart when she learns her father John (Sean Penn) was one of America’s most notorious counterfeiters. Can she forgive him even if that life she had was provided thanks to his ‘other life’?

This film feels a family affair as Sean’s son Hopper also stars, the film’s script is written by brothers Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. The film’s score is written by Eddie Vedder and includes his daughter Olivia!. Here’s hoping the film worth a watch!

Based on the true story of reporter Jennifer Vogel and her father John Vogel, one of America’s most notorious counterfeiters, Flag Day is directed by Academy Award®-winner Sean Penn and stars his real-life daughter Dylan Penn in a gripping family portrait of a young woman who struggles to rise above the wreckage of her past while reconciling the inescapable bond with her father and his life of crime.

The film co-stars Katheryn Winnick, Josh Brolin, Eddie Marsan, Regina King, Norbert Leo Butz, Hopper Jack Penn and James Russo. Flag Day will be released in the UK and Irish Cinemas as well as Digital in January 2022, exact date still to be announced.
