It’s been talk of fanboys fangirls for many years and now it looks like true believers can rejoice as Spiderman will now finally be welcomed to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

He’s been a staple part of the Marvel’s comic universe for over 50 years and now fans of can embrace our favourite friendly neighbourhood webslinger as he’ll finally unite with his comrades. Marvel announced via their website they have done a landmark deal with Sony Pictures that Spiderman now can star alongside Avengers, Guardians Of The Galaxy even Captain America.

It’s not clear what film Spidey will make his debut appearance as well how big that appearance maybe, the film Peter Parker will appear in essentially is a brand new Spiderman. This news will delight detractors of the current franchise as that will be finished and a new leaf once again. This doesn’t mean Sony Pictures won’t make another Spiderman film as they will with the next installment set for 28th July 2017 release date. With this news Marvel have announced several of the already planned films have now been pushed back with Thor: Ragnarok the biggest mover to 3rd November 2017 to make room for Spiderman new flick. Black Panther (6th July 2018), Captain Marvel (2nd November 2018) and Inhumans (12th July 2019) are the other movers.

With this news questions are been asked is this the end of the road for Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker? The early news says no however The Daily Beast are reporting , his time is up. It does say he has been in talks to possibly continuing the role  however if this is a new chapter for the webslinger  it would be logical to start afresh with a new face. All we ask is this new film won’t be another origins film would that mean Peter Parker would be older an wiser? Who would then be ideal to play the role?

Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company said: “Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s great characters, beloved around the world. We’re thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building.”

Despite the rocky road for Spiderman when you make $4 billion in box sales over 5 films it wasn’t going to be curtains for the character, like Wolverine the need for a strong Spiderman film/franchise was in demand and now Marvel & Sony are now delivering the dream. Our money is on Captain America: Civil War as the benchmark to launch spiderman into MCU.
