Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare Trailer Teases ‘Perfect Match’

A woman standing by the River in Sweet Bobby

A decade of deceit, Netflix have released the official trailer for their next true crime documentary Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare.

Finding true love is hard, longer you wait the more vulnerable you become. In Sweet Bobby an online friendship blossoms into true love, Kirat Assi  finds herself turning detective to uncover the truth behind her mysterious fiancé, Bobby. Inspired by the hit podcast, this is a story of a fairytale romance gone horribly wrong.

I it when I was younger living in Manchester I was catfished. Like many victims  everything starts slow and good until you arrange to meet.  When I arranged to meet Lotte  the day of the meet I slowly started to be suspicious I waited at a bar nearby watched everything unfold.  I was only a few months, the lady at the centre of this film was 10 years! Fascinating story and Netflix rarely disappoint with true crime shows and films.

When Kirat meets ‘Bobby’ on Facebook and embarks on a long-distance relationship with him, she believes she has found the love of her life. As it evolves from a friendship to an increasingly controlling romantic relationship, Kirat becomes subsumed into a web of deception, as Bobby’s explanations for why they cannot meet face to face become more and more extreme. What unfolds is a modern-day fable about some of the dangers of finding love in the digital age.

Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare coming to Netflix on 16th October.
