The Great Season 2 Trailer Promises More ‘Sex And Games’

If you love your ‘Royals up to ‘hanky panky’ you will be looking forward to the anticipated new Season 2 for The Great. Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult will be returning and Starzplay have unveiled the new UK Trailer that promises there will be more ‘sex and games’ for the viewers.

Created by The Favourite co-writer Tony McNamara, the new season our anachronistic Catherine has now gotten herself onto the Russian Royal family only to dethrone her husband Emperor Peter III (Hoult). However can she rule without a bloody iron fist when others scheme against her including her Mother (Gillian Anderson). Catherine has a lot to do to earn the right to be called Catherine The Great.

Is there any show isn’t award winning or great without Anderson in it be it only as a guest?

In season two of “The Great,” Catherine finally takes the Russian throne for her own — but she will quickly learn that dethroning her husband was just the beginning. Catherine must now face the realities of ‘liberating’ a country that doesn’t want to be free. Her fight to bring enlightenment to Russia will mean battling her own court and those closest to her, including her own mother (played by guest star Gillian Anderson). She will also battle her own heart as she continues to navigate her relationship with Peter. Ultimately, Catherine will learn that to change a country, you must let it change you, that there is a fine line between idealism and delusion, and that becoming ‘Great’ will ask more of her than she could have imagined.

The second season also includes Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Bayo Gbadamosi and Belinda Bromilow.

The Great Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, 5th December in the UK.
