The Shawshank Redemption Coming Back To UK Cinemas In 4K!

When it was released it was considered a ‘failure’, 27 years on Frank Darabont’s The Shawkshank Redemption is now one of the greatest ever. This weekend you can relive the magic on the big screen in restored in 4K glory!

Park Circus with the help of Warner Bros are bringing the film to Vue Cinemas nationwide. In a new 4K scan of the original 35mm camera negative and was supervised by director Frank Darabont and cinematographer Roger Deakins. The Academy nominated film is in IMDB Top 250 greatest films and Empire readers voted it their favourite ever film.

Based on a novella from Stephen King stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Robbins is Andy a mild mannered banker who is wrongly convicted of murder of his wife and murder. Given life and sent to a maximum security prison, whom bonds with lifer Red (Freeman) who teaches him the meaning of survival.

The Shawshank Redemption 4K restoration will be in Vue cinemas nationwide from Friday 18th March.
