It took some people by surprise when Darren Aronofsky got the directors chair for THE WOLVERINE which will star once again Hugh Jackman as Logan sometimes known as James Hewlett or better Known as Wolverine. Both director and star have made it clear in  previous interviews with press that this movie will not be a sequel to the 2009 movie but an one off story of the man of adamantium who goes to Fuedral Japan.

In a recent chat with Movieweb the director made it adamant again about the movie not a sequel and why he chose a superhero movie after the critical success of Black Swan.

“It’s not a sequel.”

“I just love working with Hugh Jackman. And I think there’s something to be done in that world that hasn’t been done yet. I’m also excited to do something that everyone wants to make, as opposed to being the only person that wants to make the film at the beginning.”

When it comes to keeping things close to your chest Darren Aronofsky is very good at it as he never divulges any of the movies story apart from it been set in Japan with Logan having some funtime with a samurai sword. Doesnt matter how many times you ask he always lets you know the movie isn’t associated with the 2009 movie or will he be connecting himself with it either, with only Jackman been the connection. Comicbook movies seem to have a certain tone or feel to them  and so does Aronofsky’s movies , so what tone will this movie have?

Aronofsky replied:

“I have no idea. We’ll see what happens.”
