Tom Holland And Timothée Chalamet In Running For Willy Wonka Prequel?

Yesterday we learned Warner Bros were going ahead with their plans for a Charlie And The Chocolate Factory prequel. That film is set to be directed By Paddington director Paul King with the studio already saying the film will be released in March 2023. The first question many will ask, ‘who will play the young Willy Wonka?’
Collider are reporting Warner Bros have already have 2 names in mind, Tom Holland And Timothée Chalamet! The project apparently been in the works for nearly 5 years and they reported back in 2018 the studio were looking at the likes of Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover and Ezra Miller to play the role. Something happened since then and those names fell off the list or they were simply gossip.
At this stage we don’t know very much about what the story will be based on. All we know is it will be set around “Willy Wonka’s earlier days prior to operating his elaborate house of confectionary creations.” It will be an origins story , could it include the iconic Oompa-Loompas? Possibly it could be when Willy “met the now iconic Oompa-Loompas on one of his earlier adventures.” The plot is off course is under wraps for now, and it will be written by Simon Rich (An American Pickle) with David Heyman (Harry Potter) producing.
It will be interesting to see if Tom Holland And Timothée Chalamet can take the role, if they do which one would you like to take the role? Can they embrace the spirit of the great Gene Wilder or Warner Bros expecting them to be more the Tim Burton’s Johnny Depp Willy Wonka?
