Trust No One In Park Chan-Wook’s Decision To Leave Trailer

Scene from Park Chan-Wook's Decision To Leave

MUBI have released the full Trailer for Park Chan-Wook‘s Decision To Leave. Teasing we should trust no one in the Korean Auteur’s latest creation that looks full of mystery and looks gorgeous.

In the past 20 years Chan-Wook has been one of the few Korean filmmakers like Bong Joon-Ho to garner a following in the West. Directing the cult noir thriller Oldboy (2003) part of Vengeance Trilogy (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002), Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005). Not forgetting his English language debut Stoker with Nicole Kidman and BBC Drama Little Drummer Girl starring Florence Pugh.

His latest film is his first since 2016 The Handmaiden, looks it’s tonally suspenseful. Also foreboding and even a little comedic, arduous, something that the director has mastered.

We find ourselves following police detective Hae-Joon who is investigating a mysterious death. He soon becomes infatuated by Seo-rae who just happens to be the dead man’s wife. She is also the prime suspect.

This plays the Noir tropes very well. The femme fatale and a cat and mouse style thriller that may not purely focus on the investigation. A visual delight and we may not get the full plot details, but if we go by the filmmaker’s previous films expect the unexpected.
