War Collides With The ‘Precious’ In Second Tolkien Trailer

The long awaited biopic for JRR Tolkien the mastermind behind The Lord Of The Rings saga will be with us shortly. Today Fox Searchlight has released a second UK Trailer for Tolkien which sees war collide with our titular character (played by Nicholas Hoult). A journey that would inspire his greatest creation and shape John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.
When it comes to world building Tolkien was one of the best. He didn’t just create the towns, the characters, the mythology, he also created the languages too. This drama showcases his fascination especially the Elvish language. The new Trailer also shows off the dramatic side of the story, and this might not be a journey through Middle Earth, but still going to be an epic story. The war scenes look impressive and director Dome Karukoski has been studying Peter Jackson’s LOTR Trilogy.
I really do hope there’s a lot of the World War One side of his story as it’s the integral part of his life. Just hope the film rises above the formulaic biopic, they are tricky to pull off…

TOLKIEN explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-earth novels.
Directed by Dome Karukoski from a script by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, the film also stars Lily Collins, Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris and Derek Jacobi.
Tolkien will arrive in the UK and Irish Cinemas from 3rd May( 10th May in the USA).
