Watch England Is Mine UK Trailer A Run Of The Mill Life For Morrissey

This Sunday 2nd July, The Edinburgh Film Festival will close for another year and the closing gala will be the Morrissey biopic, England Is Mine. Ahead of that premiere, Entertainment One UK who will distribute the movie has released the movies UK Trailer. Taking us back to 1970’s Manchester to the lead up to the iconic singer’s life meeting Johnny Marr and the formation of The Smiths. Is he that ‘Charming Man’ or a ‘Charming Grumpy Sod’?
The music needs no introduction, so the focus is on the iconic frontman leading to the meeting of his friend and legendary guitarist for the group. The trailer shows off the usual tropes we expect from a biopic, from the young frustrated working class Steven to the famous meeting of creative minds.
In 1970’s Manchester, Steven Morrissey (Jack Lowden – Dunkirk, A United Kingdom, ’71), an introverted, uncompromising teenager, finds himself frustrated with his working-class existence.
With dreams of a successful music career being dampened by his run-of-the-mill job at the local tax office, Steven finds solace in the city’s underground gig scene where he meets Linder Sterling (Jessica Brown Findlay – Downton Abbey, The Riot Club) – an intelligent, self-assured artist – who encourages him to make his ideas of superstardom a reality.
Culminating in his first meeting with Johnny Marr, ENGLAND IS MINE is a feature length origins story based on the early life of Morrissey, the outspoken former lead singer of seminal British band The Smiths.
England Is Mine is set for a 4th August UK and Irish Cinema release.
