Watch The First Trailer For David Michod’s The Rover

It’s finally great to see something new from David Michod whom we last met in 2011 with the intense slow burning ganland dram Animal Kingdom. In The Rover we find ourselves deep in post apocalyptic Australian outback and looking at the first trailer the intensity has risen and prospect of delivering a film that’s just as dark, moodier damn right powerful.
The Rover set 10 years after financial collapse, the lands are stricken by war, society has been ripped apart, Eric (Guy Pearce)a loner tracks down a gang that has stolen his car across the Australian outback. It’s not the car that’s important it’s the mysterious cargo in the car forces Reynolds (Robert Pattinson) an injured to follow him on a trek across the outback, where chaos awaits the pair.
The story is simple and the plotline we do know doesn’t tell the whole story, thankfully the trailer doesn’t either only sampling what lies ahead. Post Twilight it hasn’t been a easy ride for R-Pattz and The Rover might be the film to prove his credentials diversify his range of roles as more than a tween vampire. This looks very enticing and we do expect this one to make a presence at Cannes this year as well as find itself slipping into cinephiles anticipated films for 2014 that’s of course it isn’t there already, it’s on ours, what about yours?
The Rover doesn’t have a confirmed release date for UK or USA but it could be in a cinema near you as early as this summer. The film also stars Scoot McNairy and Nash Edgerton.
