Watch Heartfelt UK Trailer For French Drama Her Way

A Scene from Her Way

When it comes to sex work, we usually see it from a negative context. In Cécile Ducrocq’s provocative first feature, Her Way showcases a determination for a better life.

Blue Finch Film Releasing are set to bring this French drama to UK cinemas. Today they debut the film’s heartfelt UK Trailer about a sex worker who is pushed beyond her boundaries.

This was a film I sadly missed due to schedule clashing at this year’s Glasgow Film Festival. It’s great to see it’s now getting a cinema release, a positive drama about someone working in the oldest profession in the world. Not from a male perspective, but from a female filmmaker.

Awarded a Special Jury Prize at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival for its mature storytelling.  A bold, sex positive drama  anchored by powerful lead performance from Laure Calamy, the star of smash-hit Netflix series Call My Agent!, which was recently remade in the UK for Amazon as Ten Percent.

Her Way follows Marie, who has been working in the sex industry for 20 years. She is determined to give her 17 year old son a better life. A life into a life training as a chief at a prestigious cookery school.

Marie (Calamy) is a confident, optimistic sex worker in Strasbourg who is determined to provide a better life for her 17-year-old son, Adrien (Nissim Renard). He is a bottomless pit of apathy and negativity whose only ion in life is for cooking. The opportunity to attend a prestigious and expensive cookery school forces Marie to take increasingly desperate measures to fund his place.

The film also stars Nissim Renard, Béatrice Facquer, Maxence Tual, Romain Brau, Sam Louwyck, Diana Korudzhiyska, Amlan Larcher, Valentina Papic and Corneliu Dragomirescu.

Her Way will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 26th August.
