Watch The Daring UK Trailer For Theo And The Metamorphosis

Theo And The Metamorphosis (2021)

Sovereign Film Distribution have released the UK Trailer for award winning Theo And The Metamorphosis.

Ever since it’s world premiere at Ficunam Mexico in 2021, which see it go via Berlinale, the film has picked up some notable awards as well as reviews.

Damien Odoul’s film features an amazing performance from Théo Kermel, as a man with Down’s syndrome, left to fend for himself in the forest after his father goes away. Odoul shows us the world from Théo’s perspective, in dreamlike surreal compositions. Constantly accompanied by his inner voice, Théo’s thoughts and emotions are brought to life in a dynamic, ever-changing visual language. His desires unfold in a flood of impressions and experiences, and the days alone in the forest become a journey of self-discovery and self-determination.

Sometimes hallucinatory, often shocking, explicit and deeply erotic, punctuated with bursts of frenetic music and line animations. A unique, provocative and powerful meditation on our connection to nature, to other people, and identity.

Theo, a 27-year-old with Down’s syndrome, lives with his father in a workshop in the middle of an isolated forest. They share daily life, understanding each other without the need to talk, but one day, the father goes away on a trip, leaving his son alone with his visions. Theo decides to start a new life. His identity and his desires unfold in a flood of impressions and experiences, and the days alone in the forest become a journey of self-discovery and self-determination.

The film also stars Pierre Meunier, Sonia Gondry and Vanda Tilseein.

Theo And The Metamorphosis will get a limited UK and Irish cinema release from 24th June.
