Watch The Hypnotic Trailer For Robert Egger’s The Lighthouse

There is enchantment in the light. The VVitch director Robert Eggers long awaited follow up The Lighthouse now has its first (US) Trailer.
Starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson as our lighthouse keepers. Set in 1890’s the pair don’t seem to trust each other nor reality.
The presentation once again for Egger’s film is delightful. Shot in black and White, 35mm stock and in a ratio of 1:19:1. Really captures the claustrophobia the keepers find themselves in. The sound will help play on the psychological tone of the film hence the pair finding themselves on hypnotic and Hallucinatory journey. A bit like The Vanishing but with a even more dark horrific tone and atmosphere.
The early festival reviews have been fantastic. Like his debut film, this may appeal strongly to an Arthouse audience than a horror one. Is this film a horror? Moby Dick and the language used suggests William Melville’s classic book has a big inspiration on this film. What’s actually happen here will be left up to you, whatever it is, its tense, creepy and stark…

From Robert Eggers, the visionary filmmaker behind modern horror masterpiece The Witch, comes this hypnotic and hallucinatory tale of two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.
The film also stars Valeriia Karaman.
The Lighthouse is heading to Toronto Film Festival in September. Sadly no UK release date confirmed. If you’re in New York or LA 18th October. Don’t be surprised if this one ends up at BFI London Film Festival.
