Watch The Intense Trailer For Feminist Revenge Horror Violation

Violation (2020)

Shudder have released the Official Trailer for their feminist revenge horror Violation, due for releasing on the channel next month. The bold and unflinching thriller is feature debut for Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli.

The film made it’s world premiere at last years Toronto Film Festival which saw the film win the audience along with critical appraise. The film played Sundance recently and soon to SXSW before it heads to the streaming channel.

The film is a turbulent feminist revenge fable that explores the idea of trauma within families and untangles a sticky web of resentment as a troubled woman on the edge of divorce embarks on a vicious crusade when her sister and brother-in-law betray her trust.

The trailer is very creepy as well as plays on the tone. What we do like is the trailer actually steers away from showing the actual violence. It goes more for highlighting why Sims-Fewer who also stars (and co writes), is a powerhouse in this. Intense stuff!

With her marriage about to implode, Miriam (Madeleine Sims-Fewer) returns to her hometown to seek solace in the comfort of her younger sister and brother-in-law. But one evening a tiny slip in judgement leads to a catastrophic betrayal, leaving Miriam shocked, reeling, and furious. Believing her only recourse is to exact revenge Miriam takes extreme action, but the price of retribution is high, and she is not prepared for the toll it takes as she begins to emotionally and psychologically unravel.

Featuring a startling, raw central performance from Madeleine Sims-Fewer, VIOLATION is a film which upends and confounds film audiences and questions and confronts gender narratives by reconfiguring the rape-revenge genre into something wholly new and bold.

The cast also includes Anna Maguire, Jesse LaVercombe, and Obi Abili.

Violation will be exclusively released on Shudder on 25th March, including the UK and Ireland.
