The whole world is watching. They are nowadays with the social injustice and racism that plague our world, they were back in 1968 too. Netflix have released the Official First Trailer for The Trial Of The Chicago 7 and yes folks that is Sacha Baron Cohen!

Academy Award winning Aaron Sorkin has made his name for himself writing the script for some of Hollywood’s best flicks: The Social Network, A Few Good Men, Moneyball. For this one he’s also behind the camera for the story behind America’s most notorious trials in their history.

This film looks powerful, has a lot to say and teases it’s going to be vintage Sorkin.

The legal drama is based on the trial of seven activists controversially arrested for peacefully protesting against the Vietnam War, in 1968. Collectively they were called the ‘Chicago Seven’ and charged of conspiracy and enticing riots at the national convention for The Democrats.

The film has been in the works since 2007, a ion project for Sorkin. He originally was set to script with Steven Spielberg directing , things happen and Paul Greengrass was been lined up. Sorkin deciding to direct as well as the script. Astonishingly Paramount Pictures gave up the film, selling to Netflix and going with the buzz so far, Oscar contender? Possibly!

What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.

Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II,  Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong, Noah Robbins, Danny Flaherty, Ben Shenkman, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Caitlin Fitzgerald, Alice Kremelberg, John Doman, J.C.
