Watch the Unflinching UK Trailer For Ulrich Seidl’s Rimini

Michael Thomas in Ulrich Seidl's Rimini in UK cinemas 2022

Not every so called ‘big’ film coming from the film festivals are always the best films. Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Seidl‘s Rimini was nominated at Berlin for the Golden Bear, next month it’s getting a UK cinema release.

Sovereign Film distribution have just released UK Trailer for this unflinching blackly comic drama. Starring Michael Thomas (Import Export) as washed-up, corset-wearing pop star Richie Bravo. He ekes out a living in a run-down Italian seaside resort, belting out wonderfully appalling ballads to an ageing audience in an off-season restaurant. His world is falling apart around him when his adult daughter arrives back in his life and demands money…

Bravo is looks shamelessly seedy and undeniably loveable. He does have a dreadful fashion sense and has a tendency to be inappropriate between-songs. Morals certainly go out the window!

Richie Bravo, once upon a time a successful pop star, chases after his faded fame in wintry Rimini. He funds his dissolute lifestyle and addiction to gambling with concerts for busloads of tourists and sexual favours for his female fans. His world starts to collapse when his adult daughter suddenly breaks into his life and demands money from him that he never gave her. Meanwhile his elderly father, who suffers from dementia, goes round and round in circles in an Austrian nursing home.

The film also stars Tessa Göttlicher, Hans-Michael Rehberg, Claudia Martini, Georg Friedrich and Inge Maux. Rimini will be in UK and Irish cinemas from 9th December.
