Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan in FOE watch Trailer

Amazon Studios have released the UK Trailer for Gath Davis (Lion) romantic drama FOE starring Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan.

Some people are made for each other, in this one a romance based drama thriller with a big slice sci-thriller. Humanity and Artificial Intelligence is under question, how well do we really know each other?

Based on Iain Reid (who has also written the screenplay) best selling novel, we find ourselves in the near future. Junior (Mescal) and Henrietta (Ronan) live on a rural farm , in near seclusion that peace is in turmoil thanks to an uninvited stranger.

It may only be about 40 years in the future, the sci-fi element is recognisable. What they create is what makes this story interesting which puts their love to test. Tone wise I can see a lot of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Never Let Me Go. A psychological drama that attempts to answer a certain topic, would you be happy with a replica?

Academy Award nominees Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal star in Foe, a haunting exploration of marriage and identity set in an uncertain world. Hen and Junior farm a secluded piece of land that has been in Junior’s family for generations, but their quiet life is thrown into turmoil when an uninvited stranger (Aaron Pierre) shows up at their door with a startling proposal. Based on best-selling author Iain Reid’s novel, directed by Garth Davis, and co-written by Davis and Reid, Foe’s mesmerizing imagery and persistent questions about the nature of humanity (and artificial humanity) bring the not-too-distant future to luminous life.

The rest of the cast also includes Aaron Pierre. Foe will get a UK and Irish cinema release from 3rd October before heading to Prime Video at a later date.
